Q: How do I open a demo account?
A: The demo accounts are a great way for you to get a feel for our LIVE account trading. We want our potential clients to feel comfortable trading in this market before putting real money at risk. For a FREE DEMO, please sign-up here.
Q: How long is the demo active?
A: Currently the demo account is good for 90 days, starting the first day you sign up for the account. On the 90th day, you will notice that your account will become inactive. If you require additional time before opening a live account, you may register for more than one demo account on either of our platforms. Also, you may email support@fxdd.com to request an extension for a demo account. Based on certain terms and conditions customers with active LIVE accounts can also have non expiring demo accounts.
Q: Do FXDD demo accounts involve real money?
A: No, the "cash" that we provide in the demo account (FXDD Trader or MetaTrader) is virtual play money with an initial deposit of either $50,000 or another amounts chosen by the customer. It is provided so that you may practice trading before opening a LIVE account. No charges are incurred for the transactions that you make. Demo accounts are only intended to familiarize you with the functionality of our platforms. As in all trading environments, live results may differ from demo results.
Q: How does the demo account compare to my LIVE account?
A: The demo accounts for both platforms mirror exactly what you will be seeing if you sign up for a live account. The pricing and spreads are the same in demo and live accounts.

Q: What is the “Expert Advisor”?
A: Expert Advisor is a scripting tool offered in the MetaTrader platform which allows a user to program and implement their own trading algorithm. For more information about this feature, please visit http://www.metaquotes.net/experts/mql4/
Q: Is the Expert Advisor offered to mini accounts?
A: Yes, expert advisor is offered to all accounts including minis.
Q: Can I use either platform to trade a standard, mini, or micro DEMO account?
A: On Demo you can trade mini (10K) and standard (100K) lots. Micro lots trading is available for live trading accounts only.
Q: I’ve downloaded the MetaTrader platform. How do I sign up for a demo and start trading?
A: Once you have the platform downloaded, simply go to:
- “File” then click “Open an Account” (note that this OPEN AN ACCOUNT screen may appear automatically when you log in).
- Fill in the brief information required and click on the box “I agree to subscribe to your newsletters”.
- Click Next TWICE.
- When you click Next the second time, you will notice your Login and Password has been provided for you. You can write this down for your records, but this is not required.
- When you click “Finish,” the system will automatically log you into the new demo account and you can begin trading the forex market.
- If you look at the top left corner of MetaTrader, you can see your demo account number.
Q: Can I collect my profits from my demo account?
A: No, the demo account is only good for practicing trading using virtual funding. Because this is not “real” money, we do not award clients profits for demo accounts.
Q: Can I demo trade on the weekend?
A: Demo trading is only available during regular trading hours (Sunday 5 p.m. thru Friday 4 p.m. EST).
